The first ten days
The quietest part of the month and the best value. Hotels close to the Haram are easier to secure and the mataf is calmer. A good choice for a first Ramadan Umrah, for families and for elderly parents.
The Prophet, peace be upon him, said that Umrah in Ramadan equals Hajj in reward. Ramadan 2027 begins in early February, and the best-placed rooms are taken months ahead. We are taking enquiries now.
Umrah is rewarded at any time of year. In Ramadan, the reward is of another order.
These narrations are given in meaning rather than word for word.
Scholars agree that Umrah in Ramadan matches Hajj in reward but does not replace it. Anyone for whom Hajj is obligatory must still perform it.
Ramadan is the busiest month of the Umrah year, and the three parts of it are very different. For most UK schools, February half term falls in the first half of Ramadan 2027.

Busier, but still manageable. Prices begin to rise towards the end of this period as the last ten nights approach.
The most sought-after nights of the year, in which Laylat al-Qadr is to be found. The mosques are at their fullest, rooms near the Haram cost several times the usual rate, and the 27th night is the busiest of all.
Book months ahead, and expect to walk.
A traveller may break the fast and make up the day later (Qur'an 2:184). Many pilgrims choose to fast on the journey anyway. Either is valid. If you are unwell, elderly or travelling with children, take the concession without guilt.
You need an Umrah permit from the Nusuk app, issued for a set time. Most pilgrims find it easiest after Tarawih or in the hours after Fajr, when it is cooler and they have eaten. The mataf is at its busiest between Asr and the end of Tarawih.
In recent seasons pilgrims have been limited to one Umrah during Ramadan. Plan for one, and give the rest of your time to prayer and the Qur'an.
Dates, water and laban are laid out across the mosque every evening, and you will be offered more than you can eat. On busy nights, be inside by Asr if you want to break your fast within the mosque.
Tarawih follows Isha every night. In the last ten nights there is a second prayer, Qiyam al-Layl, in the small hours.
Rest in the afternoon. The pilgrims who last the month are the ones who sleep when they can.
Seclusion in either mosque during the last ten nights requires a permit, released online shortly before Ramadan. Places are limited.
Iftar in the Prophet's Mosque is one of the great traditions of hospitality in the Muslim world. Visits to the Rawdah need their own permit through the Nusuk app, so we plan your days in Madinah around the time you are given.
In 2027 Ramadan falls in late winter. Days in Makkah are warm and the fast lasts around thirteen hours, which is gentler than in recent years.
If you stay to the end, the Eid prayer in the Haram follows shortly after sunrise. Flights home in the days after Eid are the most expensive of the season, so decide early whether you are staying.
Ramadan rewards planning more than any other time of year. Where you stay and when you travel decide how much of the month you spend in worship and how much in queues.
We plan it with you, arrange each part and remain your point of contact throughout.
